First babysitter

So today was a big day, both for Isabelle and myself. I had a doctors apointment that I couldn't take Isabelle to and Josh was not going to be home in time to watch her. Thus, I had to find someone who could. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem but seeing as how I have never left her with anyone other than family; it was a big deal. Carol, our neighbor was kind enough to watch her. Kids are smarter than we give them credit sometimes because Isabelle knew something was fishy. Even before I started to leave she was crying and holding on to my leg. I sucked it up and walked out the door, leaving poor Carol with a screaming child.

From what Carol said, she cried for a few minutes then sat on the living room floor with her head down. Carol asked if she wanted to read a book and she perked right up. I guess they read books right up until Josh came home.

It was only an hour but it was a good start. She needs to learn that other people besides her parents can take care of her too. And I need to learn the same lesson. :) Baby steps for the both of us!

Believe me I understand. This deployment has made me really reach out there and get comfortable with babysitters. It is hard. Jacob had never been with anyone but my close friend and family till we moved here. You can do it mom. It turns into fun time for the kids.

I still even have a hard time letting the kids be babysat by other people besides family. But I must say it does get easier as they get older.
